Lakewood

Lakewood Guitars is a respected German builder of high-end acoustic guitars, founded in 1986 by luthier Martin Seeliger in Buseck, near Giessen, Germany. The company became known for combining traditional hand craftsmanship with modern precision manufacturing, producing steel-string acoustic guitars that compete with premium American brands while maintaining a distinctly European character. 

The name “Lakewood” was inspired by a town near Lake Erie in the United States, chosen because it evoked ideas of nature, wood, and freedom. Today, Lakewood guitars are handmade in Germany using carefully selected solid tonewoods, and the company emphasizes sustainability, craftsmanship, and customizable designs through its extensive custom shop options.
