Ovation

Ovation is a distinctive American guitar company founded in 1965 by aerospace engineer Charles Kaman. Drawing on his background in helicopter design, Kaman applied innovative materials and engineering principles to guitar building, most notably replacing the traditional wooden back and sides with a rounded Lyrachord composite bowl. This unconventional design gave Ovation guitars their recognizable appearance and helped produce a clear, projecting tone that performed exceptionally well in amplified settings. Early on, the brand gained attention for blending modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, setting it apart from more conservative guitar makers.
